So the big controversial topic of the day was posted yesterday on MMOChamp

Link here

The writer is a dataminer who is apparently proud of the fact that they have never been wrong on something they've posted. They even went so far as to say they'd ".. run naked in the streets of Paris and post the video on the front page if I'm wrong." (edit: this is in no way knocking his credibility or abilities. Just providing background)

The post is about two Halloween masks found in the files. One a Goblin, the other Worgen. Personally, I think they are just what they look like. New masks. WoTLK was released just after Halloween and they've added things here and there for the other holidays to keep Northrend in play during them.

But they are saying it's proof that these two races will be playable in the next expansion, because they've never made masks of non player characters.

Personally, I disagree. Goblin models have always been able to wear player gear since Beta. Many model viewers gave you the ability to do this. And I think it's a bit of a stretch adding Worgen to the mix.

Opinions?

Brace yourselves warriors! The Q&A is up for us!

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/warrior.html

What were your thoughts? I wasn't expecting much and it went about how I thought it would go but I was very happy to hear that they're not trying to make Arms and Fury exclusively PVP or PVE specs. As a raider that loves the Arms tree this bit of information was nice to hear.

I was however saddened by the lack of addressing our AOE tanking and how warrior tanking causes carpal tunnel because of HS spam. Now I don't think that our DPS is "fine" but it looks like Blizz is slowly bringing it up. Slowly.

All in all it's about how I thought it'd be, I do think a little too much time was spent on repeating the same things about stances and stats though.

Don't remember seeing this posted at any point, so..
Blizzard has an IPhone/IPod authenticator app for free. Search for it in your Itunes program. Only downside is having to merge your account with Battlenet. But it's Free!

Oh, and the Armory app is pretty nifty as well. Just wish you could use it off-line (for those of us with IPods)

Hey guys, I just reinstalled today :( haha. I had to reinstall twice just bc the first time it didn't seem to install correctly, when I started playing after all the patches I went to storm peaks to do some dailies and wow crashed on me with some error code and I shrugged it off.

Now when I try to add addons, I have no wow interface folder. I typically manually installer, go to c drive, program files, wow, then click interface (w/e) but I get to the wow folder and nothing is inside of it!

Any idea of what could be up and my trend micro internet security pro just ran out, any recommendations on a solid anti virus/internet security along with someone that could clean it up and make it more efficient?

I am trying to analyze the dps rotation of my feral druid cat form. I have a nearly maxed out feral tree (everything involving mangle and shred certainly). I know shred does more damage than mangle if the target both has a bleed effect, and the mangle effect. The trouble is, the bleed form rake for example (or rip), and the mangle effect don't actually last all that long.

The way I see an opening is
Mangle - Savage roar - rake - shred - shred (if I still have energy)
or
Rake - Savage roar - mangle - shred - shred (if I still have energy)
After that, I never seem to be able to keep both a bleed effect (usually rip at this point if it's a boss), and mangle up long enough to do a shred, let alone two.

I just recently considered the alternative though, which I've never done before. Do nothing until my energy is restored. All dps rotation calculations I've read never seem to comment on this tactic. They give dps for shred, dps for rake, for mangle, but no one ever seems to quite be able to capture total dps including energy regen.

I was just wondering how many people do this, wait for energy to go back to 100 before launching a new chain (assuming a reliable tank & spank scenario).

Just had a quick question:

Blizzard Updater just finished dl'ing the 3.2 patch and it didn't install. I've run this as an administrator, (yay Vista...pfft), and still nothing; WoW just loads as normal but is still running patch 3.1. Any ideas as to why and has anyone else gotten 3.2 to go live?

If you're having trouble with this fight, I highly recommend a Deep Frost Build (17/51/3 or 20/51/0) for Death Knights, assuming your other 24 raiders don't need 13% more spell damage or 10% more attack power. I can link to a parse if requested after work, but my best results were with a Frost Spec (because of Frost Strike's benefit from Singe) after a few weeks of 51/0/20 tries and less than stellar Unholy attempts several weeks ago.

Three consecutive 45k Frost Strikes(topping out at 53k... probably from Unbreakable Armor, Fallen Crusader, and Greatness all being active at the same time) makes me happy in the pants. 26-30k Obliterates aren't shabby either. Yes, before anyone asks, I have Sigil of the Vengeful Heart.

We didn't get the kill though *cough* CASTERS NOT PULLING THEIR WEIGHT, WTF?! /HEAD DESK ... ZOMG UBERFAIL WARLOCKS/MAGES/BOOMKIN only getting 7-8k DPS?! F'n go stand in the light next to a fire, GAWD! *cough* Our best attempt so far is 14% when Hodir smashes the extra chest.

Hey there!

Well I am looking for a good addon for me to track the dps of my main (BE mage).  I tried Skada and it was ok but seemed to be a bit cumbersome and didn't report the correct numbers (showed I was hitting upwards of 4k, and I don't think that was right).  If it matters, I was also planning on using the dps meter to assist my wife's shadow priest as well.  We are more casual players but knowing our dps would help in the future i am sure.  I can't access the armory from here, but if you look up Kaneka on Tichondrius you will find me.  lol  although I don't think it is needed for this.

anyway, thanks for any suggestions in advance!

I have recently started to level up my pally and went ret all the way to 68 and LOVED every minute of it. However I leveled him knowing I wanted him to be my tank (main is a 80 Holy priest main alt is an 80 hunter I am an experienced raider and know what is required in those roles and wanted to understand a tank).
I just hit the shores of the Fjord and I seem to be having mana issues. My fellow GO is leveling his druid so i do get the mana back on heals. I am using BoS and Judging wisdom every time it is up.
My rotation is pull with Shield, Judge, HotR, Consc, repeat as necessary occasional Exorcism (trying not to use it as I am aware of its incoming cast time). I know I need more int and I dont have a full "tank" set of gear but I am working on it.
Any suggestions for better mana use or tricks I am missing?
Thanks for the help in advance.

I distinctly remember someone posting a screenshot of a letter received by a Minigob Manabonk a while back. Well, here's what he actually does:

Clicky for huge screenshot )

That aside, I AFK in the North Bank a lot in Dalaran and every now and then I'd see a random NPC walk in, head to the Guild Vault on the right (when you enter the North Bank) and disappear. I've been wondering about the significance of a few, but I noticed one of them was Great Hexxer Ubungo who is apparently a NPC in Zul'drak.

Anyone notice any others and the connections?

Don't ask me why my minimap is like that. Always been like that ever since I got SunnPort Art.

So I have been playing a druid of some sort for the past 3 years now (2 and a half as a Tauren and the last 8 months as a NE) and with 3.2 coming and the soft gear reset that is going to happen. I feel its time to change mains.

I feel the priest class fits my playstyle the best and since alot of there spell mechanics are similar to my druids its not a huge change. I have my priest up to 73 and I am loving it, they are alot of fun to play, especially with dual spec.

My questions is this, how are mechanics going to change in 3.2 regarding the specs. I have healed as Holy in the BC days, however i am finding myself liking Disc more and more everytime I am asked to heal instances.

I have gone to MMO-Champion to look at the upcoming changes, however i would just like to hear some opinions of some veteran priests in our community here.

Thanks I appreciate it

Every month or so I concoct a special guild event. I usually try to make it so that anyone can participate, but they are usually aimed at the higher level players, but not intentionally. This moth, I planned a scavenger hunt. I came up with five different puzzles (each one with a specific form) that would lead them to an in-game item. After they had accumulated all five correct items, I rewarded them with 10K gold. I guess my puzzles were a bit more difficult than I expected because it took the winner almost a day and a half to get my all five correct items.

So, I figured I'd post them here for you all to figure out as well. No prizes, just for fun. Just post your answers in a comment and I'll let you know if they are right or wrong. And yes, I'll let you know which ones you got correct and which ones you got wrong.

A couple of hints: All of the items are either gray or white quality. They are not soulbound items. You cannot equip any of them. They do not require a special profession to find. One of the puzzles has 3 possible items, but each item is closely related to the other. None of the items are quest items (either as the objective or as a "this item starts a quest").

To make things a little easier to scan as well, only post a separate comment, try not to reply to anyone elses.

I have a Warlock I'm considering as my new raiding character as Heart Striking till my 4 key screams in agony is getting old. I've read ad nauseum the theorycrafting for Affliction and Destruction specs, spell rotations, BiS pieces, Glyphs, etc.

I'm more interested in things I should not be doing during a raid as a Warlock. I'm looking for information that is Warlock specific, so, please, no Raiding 101 crap. I already know moving out of The Bad Stuff is more important than finishing an Incinerate cast.

What number of mobs is ideal for AoE vs focus fire? Should I Death Coil during boss fights if I'm low on health? Things like that.

Yogg saron question!
From reading wowwiki, it seems that there are only 3 "portal openings" allowed in phase 2, then after the 4th the tentacles outside start spawning too fast, and essentially wipe the raid. Is this still in effect? (mostly wondering cause our 10 man raid didn't get anywhere near 30% on the brain in that time... probably need to be more efficient on the tentacles)

Surprising Enigma (SE) is a brand new casual 10-man raiding guild founded on the concept of hardcore attitudes but casual raid times. We are not setting out to get server firsts. Our goal is to progress and see new content, but have fun doing it.

SE was founded by two former longtime members of Iron Dragon who left due to long-term schedule conflicts and have a desire to continue raiding in spite of that. We know what we're doing when it comes to raiding, but are seeking to form a more casual environment in which to do so.

SE will keep a to a two-night schedule of 10-man raiding, Sundays and Mondays from 8PM ST to 12 midnight ST.

We are recruiting:

• One tank (preferably shield-wielding, though DK is under consideration)
• Three healers, at least one with a DPS offspec
• Three or four ranged DPS
• Two or three melee DPS

Our website is surprisingenigma.guildlaunch.com. Don't be alarmed; because we're new things are a bit empty.

If you're interested, feel free to contact either Ama or Kharnath in-game, or put in an app on the site.

I have decided to make my Warlock my main and retire my Pally for now. Mainly because I was tired of being 1 of 10 Pallies in our raiding group and having to fight them as well as the DK's and Warriors for loot.

I have pretty much leveled as affliction and it has been great being able to kill up to 3 mobs at a time and still be full at the end. As I am going through dungeons though my DPS I feel is subpar (around 1K) compared to my Pallies 3K dps. I realize that some of it is from still being in blues and greens with my warlock compared to Naxx25 and Ulduar gear that my Pally is in.

I went to elitistjerks.com and read some of the talent specs but I didn't see anything that was specifically a raiding spec. I also checked out talentchic.com and the number one talent tree was 0/40/31.

Any help with talent specs and spell rotations would be a big help. I need to at least break the 2.5K dps barrier before I feel like I can have my Warlock replace my Pally in Ulduar.

Ok, this is a dumb-@$$ question that I should totally know the answer to. I'm a rogue who doesn't know how to use combo points properly.

That's a slight exaggeration. I've been a rogue for years, and I'm currently doing hard mode Ulduar stuff in one of the top raiding guilds on my server. But I could do with some advice. Specifically, SnD. I'm combat swords with 4/5 T8, so I'm loving Rupture at the moment. But I seem to be letting SnD slip a lot, so my DPS is suffering. My standard rotation is to start off with either a 1cp SnD or 5cp Rupture, then keep doing 1cp SnD while I alternate 5cp Rupture and Eviscerate (if Rupture is still up).

I don't think that's cutting it. I don't have the SnD glyph, and the rotation dates back to TBC when I had the 2/5 Tier 4 set bonus. Because I'm only doing 1/2cp, I get an 11-15 sec SnD that keeps dropping. Instead of renewing it straight away I usually spend combo points on eviscerates or ruptures.

Every rogue knows that you should keep SnD up *always*. But my rotation isn't working out that way, and ElkBuffBars is very unhelpful as it's hard to see if SnD is still up (it's ok for keeping track of Rupture, though). So, the questions are:

- What is the ideal rotation of SnD, Rupture and Evisc?
- How flexible is that rotation? Is high DPS *totally* dependent on rigidly following it?
- Is there a more useful addon I can use to watch the various different timers?

Thanks!

Shadow Prophecy on Ner'zhul is slowly trying to build up a core group of raiders once again to raid Ulduar 10/25 and, to a lesser extent, Naxx 25 once again.

SP was a fairly strong raiding guild in BC-era, but since WotLK has lost a large percentage of membership due to puggability and just generally losing players due to RL stuff.

These days, SP focuses on casual raiding- currently 1-2 nights a week are aimed at Ulduar-10, and we've recently teamed up with another guild to run Ulduar-25 2 nights of the week. The rest of the week there are often random VoA, OS, and Naxx10/25 runs that occur either within the guild or with a bunch of the members from the guild, but sadly we've been barely able to keep our Ulduar-10 team afloat due to losing players to the dooms of the real world.

We really need healers- in particular at least 1 Discipline Priest, a few Holy Priests, Resto Shamans, and at least 1 Resto Druid. We're also in desparate need of at least 1 Mage who's actually willing to come to raids on a fairly regular basis.

Gear isn't a huge importance- first and foremost be a chill person who's not an elitist lootwhore and thinks they're above all else. We enjoy raiding and getting stuff done, but we are not one for the dramaz, and in the end are really looking for people who can fit in with the group as a whole. Attitude and personality are our major concerns. We'd prefer 18+ years of age, since Vent and occasionally guild chat can get a bit raunchy and most of our guild is 20+ years old (we even have a pair of grandparents who raid with us!), but if you're mature, exceptions can be made.

Raid times are (on average) 6:30-10/11pm server (PST). Raid days are (mostly) Wednesday for Ulduar-10, Thursday and Monday for Ulduar-25, and occasional Fridays for Ulduar-10. Naxx runs typically happen over the weekend on a less frequent, laid-back basis. Loot is determined by loot council at the moment- the officers try to be as fair as possible when distributing drops.

If you're still reading, and think we might be a good fit for you, hop on over to our website and drop an app: http://www.demonslair.com/sp Or, if you happen to actually be *on* Ner'zhul, don't hesitate to shoot a whisper to one of the officers- Monita/Kuroiraikou, Myna/Anorn, Kadgarion/Atara, or Tycho. There's currently two Class Leads who also function as pseudo-officers, if none of the above are online- myself (Binya), and Shir. Make sure you tell them that you heard about them from me (Binya). :3

Sorry for the zomgwall o' text. I'm a wordy bitch. :

We're going to Washington DC for vacation next week.  Maryland is on the way there from our house, so we're making a stop there because there's a road near Thurmont that sports our last name - though we're not exactly sure why it does.  (I've got some family history in the area, but it's from the early 1800's)  We're going to stop and drive down the road for the heck of it.  I called the county offices to see if I could gather some info and they said that it wasn't a private road (it's way out in the country and I didn't want to trespass) but they didn't know the history of the road either.

They sent me a map of the attractions in the area and I realized that calling my trip to this road a "quest" was truer than I had imagined:

I'm the map, i'm the map.... )

Not only do I have to find the road near Thurmont, I've got two quests to turn in near Myersville!

So, I'm leveling a rogue, using heirloom weapons and shoulders, specced subtlety, and having a BLAST. Most fun I've had leveling a character in ages.

However, I've got a problem. Somehow, I've out-leveled James' Leveling Guide, and I'm at a loss as to where to go from here. I'm 49, having cleared out tanaris/feralas, and am just one to two levels short of getting to un'goro and WPL.

I know its something silly that I'm missing I'm sure, but... its been a long long time and I'm spacing. Help plz?

So, the dudes at HQ when I went up for my business trip were all, "You should come level an alt on our server/in our guild, we need more girls. And people who don't wear plate."

And I was like, "Eh, okay, sure. I've done PVP before, it was kinda fun."
(Even though they're Alliance, bleh. Maybe they will convert to the side of righteousness after 3.2! I can dream!)

I've done Hunter 1-80 and Pally 1-60 and pretty much every class except Warlock to 30, I figured I'd try Shaman again, that was pretty fun.

Here is my Armory.

I have a 64 DK to farm gold for her, as well as double gathering professions, so I'm sittin' pretty on about 500g so far. I was Elemental 1-30 last time. Any tips you guys can give me as I slog my way to 60? Once I hit Outlands, I'm good, it's just been forever since I did 1-60 on Alliance. Like two years or something. XD

Farming vs Questing
Some quests just aren't worth doing because of farmers. I have an idea that I'm not sure will work but here it is. Phasing, simply phase a character on a quest so that they see a different set of mobs than the farmers. The phasing could end when you've completed the quest. There could be a tracker of some kind that would keep you from deleting quest items as to have free range on mobs that no one else could see. They could go further with the phasing but I wouldn't care if they kept it that simple. I could also see phasing being done for escort quests. I know I never even bothered with them unless I was well above level or in a group on PvP servers.

What's the general order for getting heirloom gear to pass down?

I presume it's shoulders first, for the exp gain and the general unavailability of them at low levels, but where next? Is the Thrash Blade a good choice for a newbie warrior or paladin (still don't know which I want)? Should I get more armor? A trinket, perhaps?

I could go on, but you get the idea. Suggestions or a road map welcomed.
