I am trying to analyze the dps rotation of my feral druid cat form. I have a nearly maxed out feral tree (everything involving mangle and shred certainly). I know shred does more damage than mangle if the target both has a bleed effect, and the mangle effect. The trouble is, the bleed form rake for example (or rip), and the mangle effect don't actually last all that long.
The way I see an opening is Mangle - Savage roar - rake - shred - shred (if I still have energy) or Rake - Savage roar - mangle - shred - shred (if I still have energy) After that, I never seem to be able to keep both a bleed effect (usually rip at this point if it's a boss), and mangle up long enough to do a shred, let alone two.
I just recently considered the alternative though, which I've never done before. Do nothing until my energy is restored. All dps rotation calculations I've read never seem to comment on this tactic. They give dps for shred, dps for rake, for mangle, but no one ever seems to quite be able to capture total dps including energy regen.
I was just wondering how many people do this, wait for energy to go back to 100 before launching a new chain (assuming a reliable tank & spank scenario).

Every month or so I concoct a special guild event. I usually try to make it so that anyone can participate, but they are usually aimed at the higher level players, but not intentionally. This moth, I planned a scavenger hunt. I came up with five different puzzles (each one with a specific form) that would lead them to an in-game item. After they had accumulated all five correct items, I rewarded them with 10K gold. I guess my puzzles were a bit more difficult than I expected because it took the winner almost a day and a half to get my all five correct items. So, I figured I'd post them here for you all to figure out as well. No prizes, just for fun. Just post your answers in a comment and I'll let you know if they are right or wrong. And yes, I'll let you know which ones you got correct and which ones you got wrong. A couple of hints: All of the items are either gray or white quality. They are not soulbound items. You cannot equip any of them. They do not require a special profession to find. One of the puzzles has 3 possible items, but each item is closely related to the other. None of the items are quest items (either as the objective or as a "this item starts a quest"). To make things a little easier to scan as well, only post a separate comment, try not to reply to anyone elses. ( Puzzles here! )

Ok, this is a dumb-@$$ question that I should totally know the answer to. I'm a rogue who doesn't know how to use combo points properly.
That's a slight exaggeration. I've been a rogue for years, and I'm currently doing hard mode Ulduar stuff in one of the top raiding guilds on my server. But I could do with some advice. Specifically, SnD. I'm combat swords with 4/5 T8, so I'm loving Rupture at the moment. But I seem to be letting SnD slip a lot, so my DPS is suffering. My standard rotation is to start off with either a 1cp SnD or 5cp Rupture, then keep doing 1cp SnD while I alternate 5cp Rupture and Eviscerate (if Rupture is still up).
I don't think that's cutting it. I don't have the SnD glyph, and the rotation dates back to TBC when I had the 2/5 Tier 4 set bonus. Because I'm only doing 1/2cp, I get an 11-15 sec SnD that keeps dropping. Instead of renewing it straight away I usually spend combo points on eviscerates or ruptures.
Every rogue knows that you should keep SnD up *always*. But my rotation isn't working out that way, and ElkBuffBars is very unhelpful as it's hard to see if SnD is still up (it's ok for keeping track of Rupture, though). So, the questions are:
- What is the ideal rotation of SnD, Rupture and Evisc? - How flexible is that rotation? Is high DPS *totally* dependent on rigidly following it? - Is there a more useful addon I can use to watch the various different timers?
Thanks!

Shadow Prophecy on Ner'zhul is slowly trying to build up a core group of raiders once again to raid Ulduar 10/25 and, to a lesser extent, Naxx 25 once again. SP was a fairly strong raiding guild in BC-era, but since WotLK has lost a large percentage of membership due to puggability and just generally losing players due to RL stuff. These days, SP focuses on casual raiding- currently 1-2 nights a week are aimed at Ulduar-10, and we've recently teamed up with another guild to run Ulduar-25 2 nights of the week. The rest of the week there are often random VoA, OS, and Naxx10/25 runs that occur either within the guild or with a bunch of the members from the guild, but sadly we've been barely able to keep our Ulduar-10 team afloat due to losing players to the dooms of the real world. We really need healers- in particular at least 1 Discipline Priest, a few Holy Priests, Resto Shamans, and at least 1 Resto Druid. We're also in desparate need of at least 1 Mage who's actually willing to come to raids on a fairly regular basis. Gear isn't a huge importance- first and foremost be a chill person who's not an elitist lootwhore and thinks they're above all else. We enjoy raiding and getting stuff done, but we are not one for the dramaz, and in the end are really looking for people who can fit in with the group as a whole. Attitude and personality are our major concerns. We'd prefer 18+ years of age, since Vent and occasionally guild chat can get a bit raunchy and most of our guild is 20+ years old (we even have a pair of grandparents who raid with us!), but if you're mature, exceptions can be made. Raid times are (on average) 6:30-10/11pm server (PST). Raid days are (mostly) Wednesday for Ulduar-10, Thursday and Monday for Ulduar-25, and occasional Fridays for Ulduar-10. Naxx runs typically happen over the weekend on a less frequent, laid-back basis. Loot is determined by loot council at the moment- the officers try to be as fair as possible when distributing drops. If you're still reading, and think we might be a good fit for you, hop on over to our website and drop an app: http://www.demonslair.com/sp Or, if you happen to actually be *on* Ner'zhul, don't hesitate to shoot a whisper to one of the officers- Monita/Kuroiraikou, Myna/Anorn, Kadgarion/Atara, or Tycho. There's currently two Class Leads who also function as pseudo-officers, if none of the above are online- myself (Binya), and Shir. Make sure you tell them that you heard about them from me (Binya). :3 Sorry for the zomgwall o' text. I'm a wordy bitch. : Tags: guild recruitment, looking for more Current Music: "When It Rains" ~ Paramore

I've cleared this entry with neuroxin. Second Skin, the wildly acclaimed documentary on virtual worlds is finally coming to theaters (NYC, LA, Austin, Boston) starting on August 7, and DVD on August 25th. It premiered opening night of SXSW last year, and has had tons of press- and now an official release! ( Press release under this cut )Official websiteThe film was instrumental to my getting into WoW, as I'm one of the subjects. After filming, the other subjects and I were, and still are, in contact with each other. They talked me into trying WoW last summer, and the rest is history. ( Trailer )Tags: videos

So, I'm leveling a rogue, using heirloom weapons and shoulders, specced subtlety, and having a BLAST. Most fun I've had leveling a character in ages.
However, I've got a problem. Somehow, I've out-leveled James' Leveling Guide, and I'm at a loss as to where to go from here. I'm 49, having cleared out tanaris/feralas, and am just one to two levels short of getting to un'goro and WPL.
I know its something silly that I'm missing I'm sure, but... its been a long long time and I'm spacing. Help plz?
TLDR: 49 Rogue needs new place to quest.

So, the dudes at HQ when I went up for my business trip were all, "You should come level an alt on our server/in our guild, we need more girls. And people who don't wear plate." And I was like, "Eh, okay, sure. I've done PVP before, it was kinda fun." (Even though they're Alliance, bleh. Maybe they will convert to the side of righteousness after 3.2! I can dream!)I've done Hunter 1-80 and Pally 1-60 and pretty much every class except Warlock to 30, I figured I'd try Shaman again, that was pretty fun. Here is my Armory. I have a 64 DK to farm gold for her, as well as double gathering professions, so I'm sittin' pretty on about 500g so far. I was Elemental 1-30 last time. Any tips you guys can give me as I slog my way to 60? Once I hit Outlands, I'm good, it's just been forever since I did 1-60 on Alliance. Like two years or something. XD
